Hey,

My name is Ahmed Louahadj, I was born in a city called Constantine in the east of Algiers the capital of Algeria. I graduated from the university of Algiers in 2004, in international Relations. At this moment, I am a  Master in Public Administration major (MPA). This is my second semester in south, and I am enjoying being around good people here in Mobile. I have a special interest in other cultures. I like learning about others’ cultures, and being with the International Students. My favorite place is the Airport!!! I know that this is kind of wierd, but I  have my reasons. first because it is the only place where you can see people from all over the globe. Second, because there where you hear all the languages, and finally, because the airport is the door to the other cltures, in which i have a special interest.

Hi, this is Ai (or Kiri), I’m a student assistance in ISS office. Today is my first day to post a blog here, now I would like to introduce myself a little bit.

I am originally from Japan, and have been in Mobile, AL since summer 2004. Majoring Electrical Engineering and monoring in Art (Graphic Design.)

I operate with sweets. Since I’m in EE major, I cannot help regarding sweets as “my battery.” My brain does not operate without sweets. Some people may call them as ”fuel”, but personally I like “battery” better.   (Maybe fuel is good for ME or ChE major.)

…. I’m afraid the topic is going to wrong direction (to somewhat silly) so I’ll try to pull it back. Well, that is pretty much all I want to talk about today. See you next time & Thank you for reading

International Month got off to  a great start with our program in Housing last night.  We had great food and great company.  It is amazing how comfortable people get with their surroundings when breaking bread together.  I look forward to more fun in the upcoming weeks.

Hi there,

We spent some wonderful moments all together tonight at the international dinner hosted by Ms. Brenda. The event took place at Beta gamma commons, from 7 pm to 8:30 pm. We also had a discussion about languages as a tool of communication. ms. Brenda picked the right topic, and the proof is that a lot of students who attended the event did not know about the communication obstacles that might face an international student. At the university of South Alabam, there is a great opportunity to learn about others’ cultures for the multinational students that attend the university. We tasted some indian rice, and chinese home kooked sweet rice. I confess that it was DELICIOUS!

International Month – March 3^rd - April 4^th, 2008
International Spring Festival 2008
 

CISO presents a cultural extravaganza. Student Organizations on campus will come together in a bid to exchange cultural insights and compete against one another for Spring Festival awards. The winner of this year’s Festival will walk away with the coveted trophy.

The Spring Festival has been a CISO tradition for many years in the making now. CISO has always projected this event as the most important one in the Spring semester. The whole university community is offered a chance to taste and savor the different cultures and traditions that many of our students so proudly represent. Being the mother organization of all the international organizations, CISO sees the Spring Festival as an opportunity for everyone to come under one roof and battle for the trophy. Competition keeps the spirit alive and that’s exactly what CISO wished to do.

This year’s International Month will include:

1. Cultural Program / Dinner  ( March 4^th, 2008 - 7pm- Beta Gamma Commons)

2. Cricket Tournament (March 6^th – 9^th, 2008 – Intramural Fields)
3. Cookout / Volleyball at Grove (March 16^th, 2008 )
4. International House of Fashion Show (March 20^th, 2008- 7pm- Student Center Ballroom)
5. Music Festival (March 22^nd , 2008 -7pm – Amphitheater )
6. Cultural Exhibits ( April 3^rd & 4^th, 2008- 9am-3pm-Student Center Lobby)
7. Talent / Fashion Show (April 4^th, 2008 – 7pm – Mitchell Center)

CISO hopes to broaden the spectrum of people it reaches out to and hopes to add a little local flavor to the show by allowing other independent organizations to show their talents and culture.

The exhibits, talent show and general decor will be the key in judging for the top prizes of the festival and the members of different groups will be strictly monitored by the CISO committee for violations of rules and regulations which will be listed in the following pages.
